When I bought Switchfoot’s album, “Hello Hurricane,” four years ago, I thought the song, “Red Eyes,” was about anger. I interpret alot of things as literal, and I didn’t take the time to look up the lyrics.
I just now figured out that Red Eyes is about anxiety. About a guy who doesn’t sleep. About a guy who has anxiety, and he barely holds on. About a guy who cries alot. About a guy who is trying to find his purpose.
It hit me, hard, because it reminds me of me. The lullaby-like intro and ending remind me of who I used to be.
